Project Highlights:
Concept Description
Horyal Humanitarian foundation HHF implemented the construction and establishment of the Marine & Fishery Institute which is located Abdul-Aziz district of Mogadishu beside Turkish embassy main building.
The institute encompasses the Mogadishu marine high school which provides marine & fishery science. It is the first high school of Marine & fishery established since the collapse of the central state of Somalia 1991.
Key Activities
Marine & Fishery Science Education: The institute offers specialized secondary education in marine and fishery science, aiming to build students in these fields for future professionals.
Training and Capacity Building: The institute provides training programs for of marine resources. students, as well as workshops for local communities, focusing on sustainable fishing practices, and utilization
Fish processing &Development center: The institute supports students to learn fish processing mechanisms, with an emphasis on improving fishery management, enhancing productivity, and studying the marine ecosystem’s health and biodiversity.
Collaboration with Partners: The Marine & Fishery Institute partners with local community, Abdiasis fishery cooperatives, and international entities to enhance its programs and offer new opportunities for the development of Somalia’s marine and fishery sector.
Job Creation and Economic Empowerment: The institute aims to equip students and local communities with skills that can lead to employment in the marine and fishery sectors, fostering economic growth in the region.
