Microfinance projects

Microfinance projects

Somalia is emerging from 28 years of political instability and economic hardships.  According to the current World Bank statistics, more than 2 in 3 Somalis live under the poverty line (less than $1.9 per day).[1]

Based on that, HHF launched microfinance project in Mogadishu namely “Shop Cart”. The project helps the small business owners, particularly the hawkers that are struggling to feed their families, to access credit. With the support of other humanitarian organization active in this niche market, HHF has funded more than 10 “Mobile Shop Cart” for small business hawkers. Small amount of money is lent to the hawker based Qarad Hassan financing facility where he/she will pay it in monthly installments. Until now, these small businesses are doing well, no default payment reported.  As the money repaid, we will fund it other like-minded hawkers.
